Escape to the Beach this Winter in Pacific City, OR

There’s something unique about a winter spent on the Oregon coast—gorgeous overcast days, crisp and breezy afternoons, and an expanse of natural wonders to explore. You can enjoy a bit of that seasonal temperature drop, but you can expect things to average in the low 50s during the day, opening a world of outdoor recreation to you. At the same time, you can cozy up around the fire in your vacation rental on rainy days and take a dip in the hot tub on chilly nights. It’s the kind of destination that’s just as perfect for adventure as it is for relaxing and soaking up the scenery. Since we’re a small town, it’s wise to plan and book your winter 2022 getaway ahead of time, ensuring you have a vacation rental reserved by the time the season arrives—especially if you’re looking to book one of our holiday rentals!

Explore Cape Kiwanda and the Three Capes Scenic Loop

Pacific City is home to Cape Kiwanda, a massive sandstone cape that extends into the sea and offers sweeping views of the beach and the towering Haystack Rock in the water past the break. Once you’ve explored Cape Kiwanda, you can embark on the famous Three Capes Scenic Loop, which will take you up to Cape Lookout, and Cape Meares. We have some beachfront homes in Kiwanda Shores where the sand is just outside your back door, and where you can relax in your hot tub with epic views of the ocean and Cape Kiwanda. Understandably so, properties with features like these tend to get booked quickly, which is another excellent reason to be thinking about booking your winter 2022 vacation ahead of time!

Winter Wildlife Watching in Pacific City, OR

If you love to spot a wild critter or two, Pacific City and the surrounding area offer quite a few chances to glimpse creatures in their natural habitat. December marks the start of whale watching season, and you can take a local tour, or try to spot a few migrating Gray Whales from the top of Cape Kiwanda. Walk the trails at Bob Straub State Park for a chance to see migratory birds and coastal wildlife along the beach—you might even spot a seal or sea lion! Explore along the Nestucca River and you might see a variety of avian life such as birds of prey, as well as rarer creatures like otters. Many of our homes are centrally located in these areas, so if you have one in mind, be sure to reserve it now for your winter vacation!

Romantic Things To Do In Pacific City Oregon for Couples

There’s no purer picture of Pacific northwestern beauty than the Oregon coast—jutting capes, stretching coastlines, and driftwood beaches all paint a vision of remote and untouched beauty, waiting to be discovered—and who better to take along than your romantic partner? Pacific City is home to a number of adventurous activities to keep you both entertained, whether it’s summer hang-gliding or an enchanting coastal hike. If you’re ready to take a romantic vacation to an enchanting coastal landscape, rest assured that when you’re in town you’ll have a selection of romantic things to do in Pacific City Oregon for couples to enjoy!

Take the Three Capes Scenic Drive

This scenic drive will showcase some of the best spots on the coast and is a great activity with your partner as you both get acquainted with what the area has to offer. Pacific City sits at the south end of this famed drive, home to the stunning Cape Kiwanda which can be admired right in town. From Pacific City, you can head north on the Three Capes Scenic Loop, which will take you to the other two capes. Cape Lookout is first, where visitors can take several walking trails along the two-mile long cape and be treated to awe-inspiring ocean views—and during whale watching season, you’re likely to catch sight of one or two! Next along is Cape Meares, where you can find a classic lighthouse set amongst otherworldly seaside cliffs. Play your favorite tunes, stop for a picnic along the way—it’s a simple yet memorable activity where you can immerse yourself in one another’s company and the unique beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

Kayak Along the Nestucca River

For an adventure that will let you experience another side of Pacific City’s beauty, you can rent kayaks to journey along the Nestucca River. Offering a serene view of banks covered in forest, you can glide along the river and take in the sights, including spotting wildlife. Nestucca Adventures is a local company offering several different types of water rentals—paddle kayaks, paddle boards, and unique Hobie pedal kayaks. They’ll educate or refreshen paddle instructions if you need, as well as help you launch off the dock so you can head out on your own adventure—just the two of you!

Explore Cape Kiwanda Up Close

Since Pacific City is home to one of the three capes, you can enjoy the beauty of Cape Kiwanda at any point during your visit. You make the trek up the sandstone cliffs, where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the ocean and Pacific City. Stand in awe of the magnificent waves crashing against the cape, and revel in the salty scent of the ocean air. You can watch the dory boats come onto shore and walk along the beach to marvel at the towering Haystack Rock that sits just offshore, surrounded by the sea. For another romantic way to take in these views from the beach, consider booking a horseback ride for two.

Dine Out at Pacific City Restaurants
